TROUT IN THE CLASSROOM @ The Laurel Valley Elementary School

Introducing Mr. David Horvath our man in charge! Thanks to donations from our Facebook followers, our “TROUT IN THE CLASSROOM” (TIC) project has received all the needed funds for the special in classroom equipment purchase. Mr. David Horvath is the volunteer teacher and project caretaker. Laurel Valley Elementary School 4th graders are excited to have this 50 gallon aquarium in Mr. Horvath’s classroom where trout eggs, supplied by the Pa Fish and Boat Commission, will be hatched and grown for stocking in May 2025 into Tubmill Creek. A “Trout Unlimited” special grant purchased the special chiller unit which will keep circulating water cold enough for trout survival. Water quality is being monitored and maintained by Mr. Horvath and a host of young 4th grade student participants. Mr. Horvath plans to include this project into different subject areas of teaching. Available to him are outside speakers from the Pa Fish & Boat Commission & The Western Pa Conservancy and much “outdoor related” learning materials. Good luck with this program Dave! T.T.C.U. will assist with stocking the fingerling trout in late May.
